Build construction concept

How the robot goes together.

Base frame: RoboParty Roboto Origin, open source. 1.25 m tall, 34 kg, 23 joints. Every major part arrives made. We bolt, wire, tune, test and add the brain.

Full assembly sequence · order, screws and warnings follow the RoboParty install manual · worker and workshop are illustrative

Build steps

The machine

What goes into one robot.

Frame

27 CNC part types, 64 pieces, machined aluminium.

Joints

23 joint motors on a wired CAN bus. No radio, no network path. Traffic-tested on the bench.

Brain

NVIDIA Jetson in the chest. Plans tasks with Claude using only the robot’s tested skills.

Eyes and hands

Depth camera in the head. A gripper on each wrist.

The build, in order

1Bench and motor IDsAnti-static bench, every motor given its ID and calibrated, then tested alone while its traffic is recorded.

2LegsKnee and ankle motors into thighs and shins, ankle linkage, feet, bearings and limit pins. Left and right are mirror images.

3Hips and waistSix hip motors clamped into blocks, legs joined on, waist motor and IMU seated.

4Chest and armsShoulder motors, then arms out to the forearms. Battery into the chest bay.

5Scan and reflashThe walking computer is scanned, wiped and flashed with our build before it goes in.

6Wire, stop, brainCable guides, power switch, e-stop and contactor, then the Jetson, camera and grippers.

7Zero, power, walkEvery joint zeroed with limit pins, first power-up hanging in the stand, e-stop tested ten out of ten, then a harness walking test on a foam lane.

Rules on the bench

> rules
materials left · anti-static mat middle · finished parts right
locating screws first, hand-tight, then diagonal order
threadlocker on the last 3–4 threads only
never hammer a motor · never reset far from zero
any shaking, drift or fall: hit stop
